Newsletter May 2019

What a great season we had and even the weather played along with us. But of course the sun always shines here in La Gomera! Gomera walking would like to thank everyone who visited us last season and we hope you took  some good memories home with you.

The details of the new Gomera  Walking season 2019-2020 are now available on our website and we are taking bookings. Next season we will have 11 weeks to choose from so take a look!

If you decide to visit during a period not included in our season we can offer one day walks or if you are a group of 4 or more we can offer a similar package to our scheduled weeks. In our Premium Package we can provide groups of 12 or more a discount of 10% which is a saving of up to 116€.

As many of you already know our holidays run from Wednesday to Wednesday and in order to make use of our transfers you need to choose a flight that arrives before 12.30PM. If you can’t find a suitable flight you have two alternatives: 1. Arrive the day before and stay overnight in Tenerife where we can offer a very good deal with Diamond Resorts... 80€ per couple for a spacious well equipped self catering apartment.  We can pick you up the next day to join the rest of the group for our onward journey to La Gomera. 2. Arrive on the Wednesday and take the last ferry to La Gomera. This option will cost an additional 50€ per couple.

The existing harbour in Playa de Santiago will be dwarfed if the plans for a large extension to the pier and port gets funding. The plans have been around for some time but nothing has happened due to a lack of financial support. Recently there have been renewed political efforts to have the funds for the project included in the Canarian Government’s 2019 budget with additional EU aid under the “cohesion heading”. end of this month if they will continue with this project so don’t forget to read our next newsletter. The project will involve massive movement of rock and concrete  both of which the municipal region of Alajero, where Playa de Santiago is situated, has plenty. The new port, if built, will provide berths for ships and ferries up to 340 ft in length and a marina with berths for about 350 pleasure craft of various sizes and a dedicated commercial fishing section and ancillary works.  We will know at the end of this mon

th if they will continue with this project so don’t forget to read our next newsletter.

Looking forward to seeing or meeting you next season.

Best Wishes Jesús and René
